Article I: Governing Body
- The commissioner for the SFFL is Michael Staudt.
- The commissioner will remain in office until:
- The commissioner resigns, at which point the league will perform a democratic vote to elect a new commissioner.
- The commissioner does not have autonomous rule over the league. Any decision made by the commissioner can be overruled by a democratic vote initiated by any league member.
- During the season, the commissioner will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the Staudt Fantasy Football League [SFFL] and will be required to determine the appropriate course of action by interpreting the terms outlined in the SFFL League Constitution, as well as the Fantasy Football service (ESPN).
Article II: League Members & Teams
- There will be twelve (12) teams for each season.
- Each team is allowed a maximum of two (2) owners.
- All interested members from the previous season have the right to retain their franchise, as long as they are in good standing with the league.
- In the event that a member is no longer interested in playing, replacement members will be added by waiting list and league vote.
Article III: League Setup
I. League Fees:
- Entry Fee will be the voted upon price, due at draft.
- If the team has their entry fee paid on or before the draft, they will be given 6 free pickups and will be eligible for all side prizes throughout the season.
- If the team does not have their entry fee paid on or before the draft, they will be given 5 free pickups and will not be eligible for side prizes until the full amount is paid.
- The cost of each pickup after free pickups are used.
- All proceeds of pickups goes towards miscellaneous league fees and the year end party.
- Pickup fees are due two weeks prior to the decided date of the Year End Party.
II. Rosters
- Rosters are made up of 9 starters, 8 bench, and 1 IR slot.
- The Starting Lineup consists of 1 Quarterback, 2 Running Backs, 2 Wide Receivers, 1 Tight End, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 Defense/Special Teams, and 1 Kicker
- There is no limit on the number of players a team can roster at any given position.
III. Scoring
- Weekly scoring will be head to head.
- Scoring is on a full point system.

IV. Teams & Divisions
- The league will be devised of twelve (12) teams separated into three (3) divisions of four (4) teams each.
- For the 2016 Season, divisions are decided based on draft order.
- Division 1 will have the teams drafting in the 1, 4, 7, and 10 positions.
- Division 2 will have the teams drafting in the 2, 5, 8, and 11 positions.
- Division 3 will have the teams drafting in the 3, 6, 9, and 12 positions.
V. Players
- The player universe is comprised of all NFL players listed by the hosting service (ESPN).
- SFFL will not recognize the hosting services (ESPN) Undroppable Player List.
Article IV: Amendments
- All amendments proposed by league members must receive approval by two-thirds vote.
- Teams with multiple owners will only receive one (1) vote on all league amendments.
- Any amendment that is approved during a season will not be made applicable to the current season, and will be applied to the following season unless the league unanimously votes to apply the amendment immediately.
- Any amendment that is approved during the off-season will apply to the upcoming season.
- Amendments will be announced and made available for public viewing on the league website and all members will be notified via text from the commissioner.
Article V: Draft
- The SFFL will hold an in person draft in the snake format.
- For members who are unable to attend the draft for any reason, they may name a replacement drafter that can be someone who is not in the league. They may also draft via Skype or some other form of internet chat.
- The draft will conclude before the first week of the NFL regular season.
- Location and Time of the draft will be determined on a year to year basis based on member availability.
- The order of the draft will be determined in a two-step process
- Each team will be awarded a "Choice" position based on their finish from the Previous year (see table in full PDF)
- Once the draft choice order is determined, two weeks prior to the determined draft date, the league will select, in order, where they would like to draft.
- Trading of draft positions are allowed up until a first round pick is made at that position.
- Trading of specific draft picks/round is forbidden.
- There is a soft limit of 3 minutes per pick.
- The draft can be paused at any time for inclement weather or emergencies.
- The draft will include 18 rounds to fill all roster spots.
- All positions in a starting lineup must be filled by the end of the draft.
Article VI: Acquisitions & Waivers
- Lineups will lock individually at scheduled game time.
- There is no limit to the number of acquisitions a team can make in a given week or season.
- The SFFL will follow a 1-day rolling waiver system.
- Non-rostered players will lock and be put in the waiver pool at the start of their NFL Team's game time.
- Dropped players will immediately be placed in the waiver pool.
- Players who are placed in the waiver pool for 24 hours.
- The claiming team with the highest waiver position (high being 1) will be granted the player once the waiver period ends.
- If a successful waiver claim is placed, the winning team will be moved to last on the waiver list.
- As mentioned in Article III, all pickups cost money, unless a free pickup is being used.
Article VII: Trades
- Trading is allowed between two teams immediately following the conclusion of the draft and up until the Trade Deadline.
- There is a limit of 5 trades per team per season
- The Trade Deadline is Noon (12PM EST) the Thursday of Week 10 of the NFL Season.
- The review period for all trades is 2-days (48 Hours) from the time the trade is accepted on the hosting site (ESPN)
- The commissioner may be asked to have an immediate league vote via text on a trade to process quicker.
- Six (6) votes are required to send the trade to the Trade Panel for Veto Review.
- The Trade Panel will consist of 3 NFL and Fantasy Football knowledgeable people who have no ties to SFFL team ownership.
- The panel will be a majority vote to either uphold the trade or veto the trade.
- Vetoed trades will not count against a teams number of trades made.
- Players cannot be traded for cash, services, or any other material good. Only for other players.
Article VIII: Regular Season
- The regular season will begin with the first week of the NFL season and conclude with the 12th week of the NFL season.
- The head-to-head match-up schedule will be generated randomly with the following rules:
- Weeks 1-3 and 10-12 are divisional match-ups.
- Each team will face the three (3) other teams in their division twice.
- They will face six (6) of the other eight (8) teams once.
- In the event of computer failure or a team owner is unable to access their roster, they may contact the commissioner via email or phone to request a roster change for the week.
- Lineups lock individually at scheduled game time.
- Weekly head-to-head match-ups winners will be determined by the starters points scored.
- There are no tie-breakers set for the regular season and games will remain a tie on the record.
- Scoring will be maintained by the hosting site (ESPN).
Article IX: Playoffs
- Playoffs will begin Week 13 of the NFL regular season and conclude Week 16 of the NFL season.
- Six (6) teams will make the playoffs: Three (3) Divisional Champions and Three (3) Wild Card Teams.
- The top two teams entering both the winners bracket and losers bracket will be awarded a BYE in the first round of the playoffs.
- Playoff Tiebreakers are handled by ESPN: Total Points For, Head-to-Head record, Record Against Common Opponents, Coin Flip
- The First and Second Rounds of the Playoffs will be 1 week match-ups (Week 13 & Week 14)
- The Championship and final placements games will be 2 week match-ups (Weeks 15 & 16)
- The 5th & 6th place game and the 11th & 12th place games will be 3 week match-ups (Weeks 14, 15, and 16)
- The commissioner will adjust the host sites (ESPN) bracket at the start of the championship to fit the Playoff modal and all scores will be updated accordingly.
- Playoffs are not re-seeded.
- Playoff Game Tiebreakers use bench player system (see full PDF for details)
- Rather than using the host sites ladder style losers bracket, the losers bracket will be adjusted by the commissioner to fit the same model of the winners bracket.
Article X: Side Games
- In order to win any weekly/yearly side game the teams entry fee must be paid in full. If the team is not paid in full and they hit a weekly award, it will go to the next team.
- The weekly/yearly side games are as follows:
- Weekly Highest Scorer
- Highest 1 Week Score of the Year
- Most points for the Regular Season
- Most points for the Playoff Weeks
- Skins: To win a skin a team must beat their opponent by more than 50 in any given week and be the only team to do so that week. If no skin is hit in a given week the pot will carry over to the next week. For two week match-ups, the skin is doubled to 100 points.
- Survivor: Every week, starting in Week 1, the lowest scoring team is eliminated until one team remains. If there are any teams that are not paid in full, they will be eliminated first.
- Most points against in the Regular Season
- Longest Win Streak of the Regular Season
- Largest Margin of Victory in the Regular Season
- Division Champions
Article XI: Payouts
Payout amounts have been removed from this public version. See the actual league constitution for specific amounts.
Article XII: Year End Party
- Every year there will be a year end party to celebrate the closing of a season
- Funding for the party comes from all pick-up money generated throughout the season
- Party location and date will be determined by vote with the league members
- Generally the party will be held a bar with food.
- A portion of the fund is immediately taken out of the year end party fund to pay for the Draft Board used that season
Article XIII: Keepers
This is not a keeper league.
Article XIV: Bans
Bans can occur for any of the following reasons:
- Egregious cheating, collusion, or dishonesty
- Inactivity for an extended period of time
- Purposefully "bombing" by dropping and/or benching key players
- Failing to pay dues on time
Article XV: League Members
Active and retired members list removed from public version.
Article XVI: Hall of Fame
- The SFFL will maintain a Hall of Fame of retired NFL players who had a significant fantasy impact in the league.
- League members will yearly nominate retired or inactive players of the NFL to put up for Hall of Fame voting. In order to be nominated, the players must meet the following criteria:
- They must be officially retired from the NFL and/or inactive for at least two (2) years.
- Were rostered in the SFFL for at least three (3) total years.
- Voting on nominated players will be granted to Championship owners for every Championship won.
- A maximum of 20 votes will be given out. When 20 votes have been reached, the oldest voter(s) will lose their vote to make room for the new voter(s).
- Voting and Making the Hall of Fame:
- All voters will submit a list of three (3) Players from the ballot
- Players receiving votes on more than 80% of ballots will be inducted into the hall of fame
- Ballots will be determined by every league member nominating 3 players of their choosing each year.
